It is becoming a common scenario; consumers are going to these FREE credit report websites and signing up to receive their free credit reports only to find out that they just got hit with the old bait and switch trick. In this case, instead of getting free credit reports, they are actually unknowingly signing up for credit monitoring services. Which incidentally, they don’t need! Although numerous consumer groups have stated their objections to these type of websites and their deceptive practices, they’re still advertising and still tricking more consumers into unknowingly signing up for their service. If you notice any type of advertisement boasting that they will provide you with a free credit report, take note, it’s a bait and switch! Don’t fall for it! The law mandates that the three primary credit bureaus provide you with your credit report free of charge on an annual basis.[…]
